Why do most people root for the underdog

In my opinion people often root for the underdog because most of us feel like one in real life. When someone who is more likely to lose succeeds it brings us hope. This gives us the impression that we can also succeed in life. Not everyone is born a champion and this often makes us root for the underdog. The majority of people identify with the weaker side because in life they face challenges and sometimes failure. Cheering for the underdog, for example in a boxing match, also brings with it a sense of uncertainty, great excitment and entertainment   which are far more appealing than if you were rooting for an odds-on favourite. All these reasons show that us humans want to see unexpected success.

  1. You do see that your topic sentence doesn't cover one of your arguments (excitement), don't you?
